Love Not Blood

Since coming back to university I've struggled to find the time and energy to start new work. When I heard about my Art society having an 'Introduction' exhibition I thought it was about time I got back into the swing of things. After all, drawing isn't exactly like riding a bike; it takes time, commitment and a lot of practice. This will be my first piece of work in a university exhibition which will hopefully be displayed by the end of the week. The standards are high, even whist none of the society members actively study art, and the styles are diverse and engaging. For this piece I chose to work from a photograph very close to my heart. Its a beautiful image of my Aunt and her adopted daughter, it really represents what love is all about in my eyes. Although they may not share the same blood through their veins it doesn’t mean their love is any weaker. To us she is just as much family as anyone else is and marks her place with her lovely nature and beautiful spirit.
